Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Test Automation Engineer to join our growing team. This role will play a key part in shaping our future test automation strategy and enhancing existing frameworks both internally and with our primary clients to optimize our tools and processes. Working closely with the Head of Test, the successful candidate will not only contribute to developing our automation approach but also play an active role in recruiting and mentoring a team of SDET Engineers.

As our ‘as-a-service’ offerings continue to expand, there is a growing need to establish a comprehensive strategy for validating these services using modern test automation tools and methodologies aligned with DevOps CI/CD development and deployment practices.

Our Requirement

The ideal candidate will be not only technically proficient but also possess strong leadership and influencing skills to effectively represent Q-Solution to clients. This role requires confidence and expertise in communicating the benefits and implementation of test automation frameworks.

Proficiency in cloud technologies, BDD-based test frameworks, and tools such as Python, Playwright, and SpecFlow is essential. Additionally, the candidate must be capable of designing and developing custom automation frameworks from the ground up, based on collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The Test Automation Engineer will be responsible for the following:

• Design and develop a company-wide test automation strategy and framework, while leading and mentoring a team of SDET engineers to implement it effectively.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to engage with clients and support the training and development of the internal team.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to test automation tools, frameworks, and programming languages.
• Collaborate with internal and client teams to define test requirements and provide expert recommendations on suitable areas for automation.
• Represent Q-Solution in key project meetings and Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and reviews.

Mandatory Skills

The Test Automation Engineer must exhibit the following primary skills:

• Proven experience in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining test automation frameworks from the ground up.
• Advanced proficiency in Python to support and enhance existing automation tools.
• Hands-on experience working in DevOps and Agile environments with CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Strong documentation skills to ensure comprehensive records of designs and work, supporting client transparency and team knowledge sharing.
• Practical understanding and application of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage tasks and project timelines effectively.
• Solid technical knowledge of Cloud technologies and practices, including CI/CD, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Practical experience and understanding of TDD and BDD software delivery methodologies.
• Proficiency in the Atlassian product suite, particularly JIRA and Confluence.

The candidate is expected to have the necessary technical understanding to be able to adopt new tools and techniques in support of the projects and programmes we work with.
