Our Requirement

We have a requirement for an experienced and motivated Test Manager to work with our expanding team in helping to deliver a variety of internal and customer-facing projects. We are looking for a technically minded individual, able to work in a team, to help us deliver the innovative testing services our customers require.

The wide variety of technology and tools used to provide our services presents an excellent opportunity for the individual to utilise their existing skills and knowledge and to develop new skills in a friendly, fast paced and hands-on environment. The candidate must hold UK Government SC clearance or be willing to go through the SC clearance process involving the following checks:

• Disclosure Scotland – https://www.mygov.scot/organisations/disclosure-scotland/
• Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)
• Security Check (SC)

Your Opportunities

The role within Q-Solution will present the candidate with an excellent opportunity to work with friendly and hugely experienced individuals as well as receive hands-on experience and training in some of the latest cloud technologies and services. Our consultants work with numerous organisations and customers delivering a wide variety of products and services from Police Command and Control Systems to Cloud migrations, infrastructure and security products. We’re currently providing services into the following organisations:

• Ministry of Justice
• Home Office
• HMTCS
• Department for Work and Pensions
• Department for Education
• Various UK Police Forces

Key Responsibilities

The Test Manager is responsible for the testing on projects both internally and across our government clients taking accountability for:

• The management of testing activities, risks and test resources within a workstream or area
• Representing Q-Solution in key project meetings and Sprint ceremonies, acting as the primary escalation point within the project delivery space
• Planning, organising and scheduling testing in accordance with priorities and readiness
• Liaising with technical resources and other stakeholders within an Agile environment
• Being the single point of contact for testing within our customers projects / workstreams
• Promotion of test automation where appropriate in order to provide value for money for the
• Identifying processes improvements within our services specifically around the company goal of ‘doing more with less’
• Representing Q-Solution in key project meetings and Sprint ceremonies, acting as the primary escalation point within the project delivery space
• Ensuring any risks are addressed or escalated appropriately and the testing service is appropriately resourced and skilled
• Ensuring all testing collateral produced both internal and externally, meets predefined quality criteria
• Assuring the testing of other supplier teams to our own high standard
• The development of our security testing capabilities, tools and processes
• Identifying processes improvements within our services specifically around the company goal of ‘doing more with less’
• Working with our in-house development team to instill quality control and process in the development of new, and enhancement of existing services
• Potential line management of internal Q-Solution resources

Mandatory Skills

The Technical Test Manager must exhibit the following primary skills:

• Awareness of all types of testing with the ability to identity any gaps in the approach to testing
• Creation, delivery and implementation of Test Strategies and Test Plans
• Strong planning skills
• Experience of both manual and automated testing solutions, a working knowledge of BDD and a variety of programming languages.
• Excellent presentation skills delivering the appropriate level of information to a wide range of audience members from technical architects to Programme Managers and Product Owners
• Practical experience and understanding of waterfall and agile development methodologies
• Solid technical understanding of Cloud technologies and approaches including but not limited to CI/CD, Containerisation and Infrastructure as Code
• Practical experience of working with Azure and/or AWS
• Atlassian product suite including JIRA and Confluence

The candidate is expected to have the necessary technical understanding to be able to adopt new tools and techniques in support of the projects and programmes we work with.

Supporting Skills

The Test Manager must demonstrate the following supporting skills:

• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent risk-based test management
• Excellent communication – able to articulate to both technical teams and project/programme boards

Location

The candidates base location will be our London Blackfriars building. Flexible working conditions are however available although there may be a requirement to travel to client sites as needed within the UK.

Education and Qualifications

The Test Manager should be:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject

And may be:

• ISTQB Test Manager (Advanced) certified
• ISTQB Improving the Testing Process (Expert) certified
